The Eight Parts of Speech

        

         Parts of Speech yaitu bagian-bagian mendasar dari kalimat bahasa Inggris. Ada 8 part of speech, yaitu: noun, pronoun, verb, adjective, adverb,preposition, conjunction, dan interjection.

Penjelasan singkat dan contoh part of speech adalah sebagai berikut :

1.Noun (Katabenda)                                                                                                                                   
Part of speech ini digunakan untuk menamai orang, benda, hewan, tempat, dan konsep abstrak. Contoh : book, house, car, love, Your book is on the table.

2.Pronoun (Kataganti)                                                                                                

Pronoun digunakan untuk menggantikan noun. Part of speech ini bermanfaat untuk menghindari repetisi penggunaan noun. Contoh : I, you, she, this, those, none, It is on the table.

3. Verb (Kata kerja)

Part of speech ini digunakan untuk menunjukkan tindakan dari subject, menunjukkan peristiwa, atau keadaan. Contoh : hit, touch, write, Youhit the nail on the head.

4. Adjective (Kata sifat)

Part of speech ini digunakan untuk menerangkan noun atau pronoun. Contoh : a beautiful girl, the expensive car, putri is a beautiful girl.

5. Adverb (Kata keterangan)

Part of speech ini digunakan untuk menerangkan verb, adjective, maupun adverb lain. Macam-macam adverb antara lain: yesterday, quickly, very, maybe, always, there, just. Contoh : They met by chance yesterday

6. Preposition (Kata depan)

Part of speech ini dikombinasikan dengan noun atau pronoun untuk membentuk phrase (prepositional phrase) yang menerangkan verb, noun, atau adjective. Contoh :in, on,  Is sleeping on the floor good for my back?

7. Conjunction (Kata sambung)

Part of speech ini digunakan untuk menghubungkan dua kata, frasa (phrase), klausa (clause), atau paragraf (paragraph). Contoh : but, both,and, although, however, I like that motorcycle, but I don’t have enough money to buy it.

8. Interjection

Interjection merupakan ucapan pendek digunakan untuk mengungkapkan emosi. Contoh : “Oucchh! Look at me!”

        Rachel has kept some packs of noodle in her drawer. sometimes she cooks it when she feels hungry. can play a guitar well. she reads a comics if she is free.as a girl, she likes collecting animal dolls. she also likes listening to music from her radio and sometimes taking some nice pictures with her camera. next, when she look the photo she was surprised because there is a strange image in pictures. " waw, it is very surprising !"

Pronoun         : She, it                                              Conjuction     : And, next
Verb               : Cook,read                                       Interjection    : waw, it is very surprising !

Modals and Semi Modals

Modal verb adalah kata yang ditempatkan sebelum main verb (kata kerja utama) untuk memodifikasi makna dari kata kerja utama tersebut. Fungsinya untuk mengekspresikan willingness(kemauan) atau ability (kemampuan), necessity (kebutuhan), danpossibility (kemungkinan). Kata kerja bantu antara lain:

 can, could, may, might, will, would, shall, should, must, dan ought to.

Need

1. As Noun

Meaning : Kebutuhan

2. As Verb (need, needed, needed)

Meaning: Kebutuhan

3. As Modal Auxilary

Meaning : membutuhkan, memerlukan

Dare

1. As Noun

Meaning : tantangan

2. As Verb (dare, dared, dared)

Meaning : menantang

3. As Modal

Meaning : Berani, menantang
