Pengertian Article

A, an, the (articles) adalah kata yang digunakan untuk membatasi pengertian dari noun (kata benda).

THE

The  dapat digunakan untuk :

• Hal yang lebih khusus/ sudah dikenal (diketahui)
• Kata tunggal dan jamak
• Biasanya digunakan dalam geographical (keadaan alam) :

               > Group of mountains (pegunungan) contoh : The himalaya, the rocky

               > Rivers (sungai) contoh : the nil, the ciliwung

               > Desert (gurun) contoh : the sahara, the gobin

               > Island (pulau) contoh : the thousand island, the hawaian

               > Ocean and sea (samudra dan laut) contoh : the atlantic ocean, the java sea

• Family name (nama keluarga seseorang) contoh : the Obama's
• Tittle (gelar) contoh : the prime minister, the profesor, the doctor
• Name of sosial/ university (nama sekolah/universitas) contoh : the university of Indonesia, the university Arizone
• Famous of Architecture (nama bangunan terkenal) contoh : the eiffel tower, the monas, the pancoran statue
• Area (wilayah) contoh : the south east
• forest (hutan) contoh : the amazone
• Nama negara, jika negara tersebut termasuk negara bagian, negara kerajaan, negara republik dan diakhir tulisan negara menggunakan "s"
• Number (angka) jika menunjukkan rangking, contoh : 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th
• Group of people (sekumpulan orang)  contoh: The Blind, The Heroes
• Part of longer group (sekumpulan orang yang banyak) contoh: one of the children, a student in the class

A /An

• “a” digunakan jika kata benda setelah itu “noun” berawalan huruf mati “consonant”. contoh: a book, a chair, a table 
• “an” digunakan jika kata bendanya “noun” berawalan huruf “vowel” (a, i, u, e, o) contoh: an apple, an Ink, an earth
• digunakan untuk kata bendan yang “singular” atau jumlahnya hanya satu.
• digunakan ketika kata bendanya tidak kita ketahui spesifikasinya/ kita tidak tahu sama sekali mengenai benda tersebut.
• digunakan untuk jumlah benda nya yang mampu di hitung, seperti sayuran, buah, hewan, dll. contoh: a vagetable, an animal, a paper
• Tidak bisa untuk : a money atau a rice karena uang dan beras jumlahnya tidak bisa di hitung (tidak terbatas)

Contoh penggunaan a, an, the :

    Anthony is bitten by a dog. The dog is infected rabies. Then, Anthony is brought to a doctor.               Doctor is his own uncle.

• Cities (kota)
• Geographical > sameru, everest, gede

                                > loke > salt lake, toba

                                > benua

• Nama orang
• Universitas/ sekolah (tanpa of)
• Angka

Latihan
